The Department of Mathematics is one of Departments of the University. It is started in the year 1983 at the time of inception of the University. The Faculty of Science has eight Departments namely Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology , Geology, Computer Science and Statistics.  The Department of Mathematics is one of the most important  Subjects in  the  Branch of Science. It deals with the study of Quantity, Magnitude, Structure , and their relation. The department is offering  both UG and PG Programmes in Mathematics through Open and Distance Learning (ODL). The Department is also offering  M.Phil and Ph.D Programmes. The Department imparts education through its quality Self-Instructional Material, Radio and Tele-Lessons, Tele-Conferences which are Broadcast/ Telecast through AIR and Doordarshan respectively which are developed in association with the Subject Experts from various Universities to the learners. The Faculty Members are specialized in the fields  namely  Complex  Analysis , Number Theory. In the Department  7  P.hd ’s  are awarded. The Programmes  in  Mathematics satisfies the U.G.C recommendations for curriculum and takes into account the learning outcomes and community needs. The faculty members are continuously working on updating the Curriculum of the Programs to meet the latest technologies and the fastly changing society needs.
